One suite with payments
Canopy describes an all-in-one practice management platform covering portal, e-sign, engagements, billing and payments. Briefi takes no payments and is not a job or workflow manager.12
Both write up client meetings and sign engagement letters, and many firms could use both. Canopy is an all-in-one practice management platform that describes itself as built for U.S. accounting, CPA, tax and bookkeeping firms: portal, e-signing, billing, payments and an AI notetaker in one suite. Briefi is built for practices that meet the same families for years and answer to Australian rules: a brief before you meet, the engagement letter with its fee schedule, document requests and the register of each client’s entities. If you want one US-built suite that includes payments, look at Canopy. If you work in Australia and the client conversation is your gap, look at Briefi.

Canopy is a US-built suite. Briefi is built for Australian practices. Canopy’s pages we read do not describe pre-meeting briefs, and say nothing we could check about hosting. A row appears only where Canopy’s own pages say something we could check.
If any of these decides it for you, Canopy is likely the better fit today.

Briefi was built for practices that meet the same families for years. It does not replace a practice management system. It covers what happens with the client around it.
A brief generated before you meet, a recap after with decisions and actions that have an owner, and a follow-up drafted for you to check and send from your own mailbox.
The fee schedule is part of what is signed, and the signed PDF carries a certificate page with names, times and a SHA-256 digest. Initials carry forward on an amendment.
Ask a client for the year’s records, see what has come back and chase the rest. Your team accepts or waives each file.
A register of the companies, trusts and super funds a family group controls, with the lodgements each owes. It never holds a tax file number.
Briefi’s identity checks are not available yet, and it does not take payments from your clients. It has no direct connection to Canopy; a client list can come across from an export, or through the API. Briefi’s written output is in English only.
Briefi charges a monthly plan price, with the seats and allowances each plan includes set out on the pricing page. Canopy lists a price for each user. Its figures are as shown on its pricing page on the date given, and the page names no currency; check it before you decide.
Briefi prices are in AUD and are read from the same price list as the pricing page, so they change when it does.
Not if you rely on Canopy for billing and payments. Briefi handles the client meeting, signing, document requests and the entity register, and takes no payments from your clients.
Yes. Many firms could use both, though Canopy describes itself as built for U.S. firms. There is no direct connection between them, so a client list comes across from an export or through the API.
No. Briefi can join as a bot on Zoom, Teams and Google Meet on the Advisor plans, and on Pro and above, or record in the browser or face to face without one.
