Advisor, head to head

Briefi vs Content Snare

These overlap on asking clients for documents, and many firms could use both. Content Snare is built for collecting documents, files and information from clients, with checklists, reminders and approvals, and is used by accountants, agencies and lawyers. Briefi covers more of the client relationship but is less specialised at collection: the meeting, the engagement letter with its fee schedule, document requests with accept or waive, and the register of each client’s entities. If collecting information from clients is the whole job, look at Content Snare. If you want it on the same record as the meeting and the letter, look at Briefi.

Content Snare collects. Briefi runs the client conversation. Content Snare’s pages we read describe no meeting tools or payments, but a page that does not mention something is not proof it is absent, so those are not scored. A row appears only where Content Snare’s own pages say something we could check.

Where Briefi is different

The meeting, the letter and the register on one record.

Briefi was built for practices that meet the same families for years. Document requests are one part of it, alongside the meeting, the letter and the register.

  • Meetings prepared and written upMeetings

A brief generated before you meet, a recap after with decisions and actions that have an owner, and a follow-up drafted for you to check and send from your own mailbox.

  • Engagement letters with the fee schedule insideSign

The fee schedule is part of what is signed, and the signed PDF carries a certificate page with names, times and a SHA-256 digest. Initials carry forward on an amendment.

  • Document requestsAdvisor

Ask a client for the year’s records, see what has come back and chase the rest. Your team accepts or waives each file.

  • Every entity a family group controlsAdvisor

A register of the companies, trusts and super funds a family group controls, with the lodgements each owes. It never holds a tax file number.

Briefi’s identity checks are not available yet, and it does not take payments from your clients. It has no direct connection to Content Snare; a client list can come across from an export, or through the API.

Questions

Briefi and Content Snare, asked often

Can Briefi replace Content Snare?

It depends on what you use it for. Briefi asks clients for documents and your team accepts or waives each file. If you rely on Content Snare’s checklists, templates or its Xero Practice Manager and FYI connections, check those first. Briefi has no direct connection to either.

Can we use both?

Yes. Many firms could use Content Snare for collection and Briefi for the meeting, the letter and the entity register. There is no direct connection between them.

Does Briefi have a client portal?

Yes, on the Advisor plans. It is off by default for each workspace until you switch it on.

Where is my clients’ data stored?

In Briefi, stored in Sydney. Some processing uses providers overseas. Sensitive content is encrypted with a key held for your workspace. The Security page lists the providers and where they are. Content Snare’s security page states its AWS infrastructure is located in the United States.

Does Briefi take payments?

No. Briefi signs the engagement letter and keeps the fee schedule in it, but does not invoice or collect from your clients.
