Every client meeting on the record, and what is still waiting on whom.
For small and mid-size law practices. Briefi prepares and writes up your client meetings, keeps what each client owes you and what you owe them on one record, collects the documents you ask for and gets instructions and forms signed. Briefi is the client side of the practice, not your matter software.

From the first call to the signed copy, on one record.
- BriefBefore you meet: where the matter stands, the next step and who owes it.
- MeetingCaptured and transcribed, with consent asked first when you record in person.
- RecapDecisions and actions with an owner, and a follow-up drafted for you to check.
- FormThe next step goes out: an instructions form or a request for documents.
- Signed and filedEach person signs. The signed copy is filed to the client record.
Four kinds of client meeting, and what comes after each.
Every meeting gets a brief before and a recap after: decisions, actions with an owner, and a follow-up drafted for you to check and send, filed to the client. What differs is the next step.
Sample data, drawn. Names are fictional.
Plenty of a firm’s meetings are with referrers, suppliers or your own staff. The brief names where a matter stands only when the meeting is about a client’s matter.
The instructions first. Then the documents, then the signatures.
Forms open in a phone browser with no app to install, and each person signs for themselves.

A portal for the client
Clients see what they owe you, upload it, and read what you choose to share.
Sample data, drawn. The portal is off until you give a client access, and shows only what you share.
What the record holds, and what it leaves out.
What we can state plainly, because it is true of every workspace today.
- Your workspace’s own key. Briefs, recaps, transcripts, clients’ form answers and the notes you keep on a client are encrypted with it.
- Hosted in Sydney, with outside services listed. The database and uploaded files are in Sydney. Drafting and transcription use outside services, some in the United States, and each is on the sub-processors page with what it receives. Briefi does not train models on your content.
- Only what you share reaches a client. The portal shows the recaps, actions and files you choose, one client at a time, and a private meeting never appears.
- Files and audio kept only as long as stated. The removal date is on the upload page, and files are deleted on it. Meeting audio is deleted after the days you set, seven unless you change it, and the transcript stays on the meeting.
Briefi keeps the record of what was said, what is owed and what was signed. Legal advice, and your professional and ethical obligations, stay with the practitioner.

Is this practice management software?
No. Briefi is the client-relationship side: meetings, forms, documents and signing. It does not do trust accounting, time recording, billing of matters or conflict checks, and it has no matter register or diary. Dates you need to track go in as actions with a due date, which is a reminder and not a limitation or court diary.
Does it connect to LEAP, Clio, Smokeball or Actionstep?
No. Briefi has no connection to practice management software today. It holds its own client record, and a person on your team keeps the two in step.
Does it protect legal professional privilege?
Briefi makes no claim about privilege. Whether a record is privileged, and whether sending client content to outside processors affects that, is for you to decide. The sub-processors page lists every service that receives content and what it receives.
Where is client information kept, and who else sees it?
The database and uploaded files are in Sydney. Briefs, recaps, transcripts, clients’ form answers and your notes on a client are encrypted with your workspace’s own key. To draft and transcribe, Briefi sends the text or audio needed for the request to outside services, some in the United States. They are named on the sub-processors page, and Briefi does not train models on your content.
Does it work for conveyancing?
A Legal workspace is set for law firms including conveyancing. The brief leads with where the matter stands, the next step and who owes it, and names a settlement date or milestone when the record holds one. It never states a legal position the record does not support. There is no settlement register, so dates live in actions and notes.
Which forms come ready to send?
One, and it is not a legal form: a short Discovery pre-meeting form that asks why the client is coming and what a good outcome would be. For everything else, start from a Word or PDF you already use and Briefi finds the blanks, in your browser, so the file is not uploaded for this. Scanned PDFs are refused. Forms with a signature must be a PDF.
How do document requests work?
Ask the client, or a third party such as their accountant or broker by upload link, for exactly the files you need. Zipped folders are unpacked, and each file is accepted or waived by a person on your team, never by Briefi. A third party’s files are not shown to the client unless you choose.
How does signing work?
Each person signs on their own link, or together on one device after a code sent to the second signer’s own address, and a named member of your firm can countersign. You can read the unsigned draft first, and the signed copy carries a record of who signed and when. Whether a document can be signed electronically, or needs witnessing, is for you to decide: Briefi has no witnessing step.
Does it check a client’s identity?
Not yet. Identity checks are coming soon. Today you can ask for ID documents in a document request, and a person on your team accepts each one. Your identification obligations stay with you.
Can it record a meeting?
Yes, three ways: a bot that joins a call under its own name, a browser recording, and a recorder for a conversation with no call. The recorder asks for consent out loud, keeps the reply as evidence and does not transcribe without it. What you must tell people before recording is for you to work out under the law that applies.
Can paralegals and legal assistants use it?
Yes. Advisor Solo includes one free support seat, and Advisor Practice includes one for each paid seat, four to start.
Does it work outside Australia?
Meetings, recaps, forms, signing and the client portal work anywhere. Content is stored in Sydney, and some processing uses providers overseas. Briefi has no jurisdiction-specific legal content, but it is built and supported for Australian firms today.
