Advisor, head to head

Briefi vs Financial Cents

Financial Cents is workflow software for small and growing accounting, bookkeeping, tax and advisory firms, from a two-person bookkeeping shop to a thirty-person firm. Its pages show US-dollar prices, servers in New York and Virginia, US tax-software links and Canadian data residency, and the pages we read do not mention Australia. Briefi is an Australian product for the client side of a practice: the meeting, the engagement letter, requests for records and the register of a family group’s entities, stored in Sydney. A US or Canadian firm that wants workflow stages run for it should look at Financial Cents. A firm that wants the client conversation recorded and followed up should look at Briefi.

One client, start to finish

One client, start to finish

A new advisory client comes in and stays for the year. The cells for Financial Cents report only what its own pages said when read on 16 October 2026.

  1. 1

    Propose and agree the scope

    Financial Cents

Engagement letters let you add your scope of work and terms to a proposal, which the client reviews and accepts from any device.4

    Briefi

The letter starts from your own Word or PDF or a template, with the fee schedule written into what is signed.

  2. 2

    Sign and start work

    Financial Cents

Once the client signs, its page says billing and payment happen automatically.4

    Briefi

Each signer uses their own link, or all sign on one device, and the signed PDF gets a certificate page. Briefi does not take payments from your clients today, so billing stays where it is.

  3. 3

    Ask for the paperwork

    Financial Cents

The portal page describes requesting information with automated reminders, and the Scale plan adds automated client task follow-ups.32

    Briefi

A document request goes to the client by link, and your team accepts or waives each file, so what is outstanding is never a guess.

  4. 4

    Talk it through

    Financial Cents

The AI page covers files, email drafting and workflow templates. It describes no meeting recording or notes.5

    Briefi

The brief is ready before the call, the recap names decisions and owners, and the follow-up is drafted in Briefi for you to edit, then sent from your own mailbox.

  5. 5

    Keep the file in order

    Financial Cents

The AI File Validator, file renaming and file routing handle incoming documents.5

    Briefi

The signed copy is filed to the client record, and your team decides which uploads to accept.

Where Financial Cents wins

When Financial Cents is the better choice

If one of these settles it for your firm, Financial Cents is probably the stronger choice.

Workflow

Workflow templates and automation

Financial Cents lists pre-built workflow templates for bookkeeping, tax, payroll and CAS work, and it can draft a workflow from a prompt. Briefi does not schedule or template your team’s jobs.15

Entry price

A low price to start

Its Solo plan, for one user, is priced at nineteen US dollars a month billed annually and already lists the portal, proposals, e-signatures, AI features and QuickBooks Online.2

Tax tools

US and Canadian tax-software and signing links

It connects QuickBooks Online natively, uses Adobe Sign with knowledge-based authentication for IRS Form 8879, and links Google Drive and American tax software.1

File handling

AI that sorts the file itself

Its AI page lists a File Validator, file renaming and file routing, email drafting, and an MCP connector for Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini on the Scale plan.5

Assurance

SOC 2 Type I, stated on its page

Its security page says it is SOC 2 Type I certified by the AICPA and runs on Digital Ocean and AWS.6

Where Briefi is different

The conversation behind the workflow.

A workflow moves a return from stage to stage. It does not remember what the client said in the room. Briefi keeps that, and does not try to run your stages.

  • A meeting record the whole team can openMeetings

Before a planning call Briefi lists what the client still owes and what is coming due. After it, the recap names each decision and its owner, and the follow-up stays in Briefi as a draft until you send it from your own mailbox.

  • A letter that carries the feesSign

The fee schedule is inside the signed digest. When fees change, the amendment returns to the client and the initials already given carry forward, so only the change needs a fresh mark.

  • The family group on one pageAdvisor

A register lists the company, trust and super fund a family group controls, with each lodgement owed. It never holds a tax file number.

Identity checks are not available in Briefi yet, and Briefi does not take payments from your clients today. More connections are rolling out progressively; today it connects to Google, Microsoft 365 and CalDAV calendars and to ten CRMs.

How the whole record fits together is on the Advisor page.

Pricing

Pricing compared

Financial Cents lists US-dollar prices by plan, mostly per user, with a twelve-month agreement on every plan. Briefi is priced by the plan, not per user. The two are not like for like, because the currency, the region and the product differ.

Questions

Briefi and Financial Cents, asked often

Is Financial Cents an Australian product?

Its pages show US-dollar prices, servers in New York and Virginia, and Canadian data residency as an option. The pages we read do not mention Australia, so check with the vendor before relying on it here.

Do Briefi and Financial Cents overlap?

On proposals, signing, a client portal and requests for records, yes. They part on workflow templates, which Financial Cents has and Briefi does not, and on meeting capture and the entity register, which Briefi has.

Does Briefi run recurring jobs and checklists?

No. Briefi keeps the meeting, the actions that come out of it and the register. A team that needs scheduled stages should keep a workflow tool beside it.

Where is client data kept in Briefi?

In Sydney, with some processing by providers overseas that the Security page lists. A key held for your workspace encrypts the sensitive text.

How would a client list reach Briefi?

Contacts come from calendar attendees or are added by hand, and the API lets another tool read them. Briefi has no contact spreadsheet import.
